Hi Paul, the roster 1340001 - 1350000 according to my info was used around 2.41 in Edinburgh.

    Paul,

As far as I am aware the Block 1340001-1350000 was issued at Edinburgh from 1 Feb 41 to 30 Apr 41. It was the first block to be issued from Edinburgh. So your man must have been very near the front of the queue!!

Many thanks for your work on this.. The reason he was so difficult to track down is that his name name was wong on CWGC

Not uncommon for this list Jagan supplied me with. Which is why they have probably remained uncorrected until now!

This is easy for not common name, but nightmare for Smith etc!

I was going to go down the guesstimate data of birth root in Scotland for all Wilson (thanks Peter/Pavel) but I didn't need to do it now

    No problem Paul.

I've dropped the CWGC an e-mail with a screen grab of his Air 78 card and a copy of his entry of the Statutory Deaths Register, so we'll see what happens...
