POW and Evaders Database Work

Flt Lt(or Sqdn Ldr?) Wladyslaw Gnys (P1298), RAF/PAF, Pilot 302 Sqdn. Do we know how/where/when he became POW?

S/L Gnys was the C.O. of No. 317 Squadron. His Spitfire IX NH365 was hit by Flak in the Seine area on 27th August 1944 (not 7th as written in the battle of Britain website. He crashlanded and was captured, but rescued by French Maquis a few days later. He was back in U.K. around the 6 or 7 September, wounded but alive.

He wrote his memoirs, named "First Kill", published by William in Kimber 1981. No détails about this event in the book, this chapter is written as if it was by his wife.

Just looking at a page of the POW log of Sgt MGC "Monty" Todd of 630 Squadron, among his POW friends/home addresses it lists Tom Fogaty DFM, when I look him up its not got much detail on the database, if it helps he was P/O Tom Noel Heywood Fogaty DFM (173636) of 115 Sqdn Lanc LL704, POW 30.03.1944 they were held together at Stalag 357 Kopernikus

John Engelsted sent me a list of fighter command POWs. it helped me load quite a few serials and dates and units.

Atleast 700 odd names in his list are new additions - I am working on updating the master sheet.

Flt Lt E F Garland MC & Bar does not seem to appear in either the POW or Evaders lists. He was shot down over Italy on 4 May 44 in 208 Sqn Spitfire ER531.
His MBE citation gives the relevant details:

Data has been refreshed. In addition to existing updated data,

Many of the duplicate entries have been removed. (Some still exist.. will remove them in future)..
About 700 entries related to Fighter Command Losses (provided by John E) (this may include some US POWs flying RAF serialed aircraft)
About 600 entries from a WO316 file provided by Paul (Which had 3500+entries - but only the ones that are not already there have been updated) (The Camp information may be a bit sketchy here)

This leaves us with nearly 15500 POW Entries.

I rather stupidly volunteered months ago to trawl through Australian records on their NA to populate a spreadsheet with aircraft identities, but I never finished that off.

Has that been done by anyone else or should I try to complete it a bit more?

I can send on what bit I did for use so far?
