    Default Pilot Help - 218 Squadron - 1941

    Hi,

More in hope than anything, I am trying, unsuccessfully to locate the christian names of six pilots on 218 squadron during 1941. Each undertook a number of operations, but sadly the ORB and Station ORB give no details other than name and rank.

    Any help much appreciateds.

    Sgt McGregor
Sgt Tomkins ( or Tompkins )
    Sgt Griggs
    Sgt Longmore
    Sgt Boyd
    Sgt Harding

    Regards

    Steve

    Hi Dave, Steve?

Frank Morton(?) Griggs? Different spelling in the headline in the AWM link from the name as written further down.

    Nice catch, Ian.

Both his service record and the WWII Nominal Roll has it as Morton.

    Gents,

Thanks all. I lost a considerable amount of data when my PC and hard drive were stolen, thankfully some of the data was in the 'cloud' but the vast majority
    was sadly lost.

    Thanks again.

Default Pilot ID Help - Sgt Tompkins

    Hi,

Hoping someone with the LG site magic fingers can help establish the identity of a Sgt Tompkins.

He was operational with 218 in late 1941 and involved in an accident when his Vickers Wellington Mk.Ic X9833 HA-A made a wheels-up landing due to engine failure on October 29th 1941. The prang is not recorded in the ORB, or RAF Marham Station Records Book.

I think his s/n has the following last four number 9879 ?

    Any help very much appreciated.

    TIA
    Steve
