    I have one to add

    https://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/c...liam-ellerton/

Flight Sergeant BUCKMAN, DEREK WILLIAM ELLERTON Service Number 1803124 Died 01/12/1944 Aged 21
    117 Sqdn.

The Unit is actually 177 Squadron. 117 Operated Dakotas. Buckman was lost in a 177 Sqdn Beaufighter NV375

1944-12-01 Beaufighter X Fg Offr Brian Norman JACOBSEN + 425573 Sgt Derek William Ellerton BUCKMAN + 1803124 177 Sqdn NV375 Chiringa Failed to return from an opportunity target raid on POKOKKU Area

The original CWGC roll has the error as 117 Sqdn

But the 177 Sqn's ORB Form 540 confirms his loss https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...mageViewerLink

    I have one more RCAF.

I used to send these directly to the CWGC's Ottawa office but all email addresses I used are now defunct.

https://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/c...ol,-roy-frank/ which shows him as a P/O but with an "R" number.

Carol's service file shows a commissioning wef 5 June 1944. New number J90183.

There's an entry on one of the 'Unaccounted Airmen' threads here where the name on the Runnymede Memorial doesn't match the card in the Air 78 series:

    http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/sho...697#post144697

As I posted on the thread, I wonder how likely it is that the Air 78 card could be wrong?

It is possible that Air 78 wrong but not death/burial registry

All info points to him being "Thomas John Thompson" 1905 to 1947 - -Aged 42 on death

What does the Kensal Rise Burial registry say on him /. Do you have anything re DoB etc -I was trying to fin him on 1939 Register - Would be good to find Birth Registration

    I have 1904 to 1906

Thompson Thomas Arthur Aston 6d 236

    Births Dec 1904 (>99%)
Thompson Thomas Arthur Chester le S. 10a 605

    Births Jun 1905 (>99%)

    Thanks for the post Paul

There are four births for a Thomas John Thompson in Northern Ireland about the 1905-1906 period. Two in Belfast, one in Enniskillen and one in Lurgan.

The burial register just has his name, date of burial plus a reference number 52203 (a grave number?).

There are also four other Thompsons on the same page of the register in Kensal Green, buried or cremated a few next months either side. Perhaps relatives, perhaps not - it's not exactly an uncommon name.

His service number seems to indicate that he enlisted at Cardington in 1941. He would have been about 36 - maybe too old, unless he was re-enlisting?
