    Hi Mojmir,

Broadbent was awarded the MM while serving as a Bombardier (Acting Sjt) in the 25th Battery, 7th Artillery Brigade in France in 1918. The citation is not in his WW1 service file. http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discove...IdNumber=65028

    https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discov...dNumber=44065&

Also appears in the Edinburgh Gazette 14 March 1918 https://www.thegazette.co.uk/Edinbur...3222/page/1011

Closest thing to a citation I've found is the Ottawa Citizen of 11 February 1918 "News comes from France that Harry Broadbent, former star right wing man of the Ottawa Hockey Club, has been decorated for bravery. Jimmy Smith, a former member of the Citizen staff, now gunner in the Canadian artillery, writes the sporting editor to say that he had met "Punch" and that he had been awarded the military medal for heroism under fire. Broadbent went overseas in 1915 and has been in the thick of the shelling for more than two years. He is reported to be in the best of health, though pining for another whirl at the puckchasing game"

    Regards,

    Dave

I don't think it will be possible to get 100% accuracy in this little exercise.

As an example, C938 Beddall's death certificate from 1988 states the spelling as "IvOr" and was completed by his son.

This is further confirmed by his Certificate of Registration of Marriage from 8 May 1937 where, in his own hand, he spells it as "Ivor"

    Dave

You can I think extrapolate some missing names from analysis of the other personnel in the Candaian Gazette - and also back fill names for a couple of hours work

    Here are some examples

    Howard Arthur Beer C-891
    Mossman Wilson Gall C-887

    etc

Joseph Valois George Albert Bourbonnais C-980?
    David Ferdinand Wolton Aitkens C-981?
