    Teunis, Hi,

    Maurice Pickles
    b. Can’t even hazard a guess. There are quite a lot of “Maurice Pickles’”. BUT – they are all clustered in/around Yorkshire. It’s a Yorkshire name. The Yorkshire Family History Society (www.yorksgroup.org.uk/) might be able to help?
Late 1941(???) Enlisted RAFVR 1590407 (Block 1585001-1600000 Weston-S-Mare from 01-Sep-41). There is only one ‘Maurice Pickles’ in AIR 78/127 Image 77 – annotated ‘KYD.’ whatever that means!

    Hi,

Found all what I was looking for ..... b.t.w. .... his mother's surname is SHIERS and they are from district Bradford.

    https://www.northlincsweb.net/103Sqn...s_103_sqn.html

In the past I was in touch with Mr. Leo Schotman, Zwolle who did give me some images from Sgt. Maurice PICKLES.
Nowadays Leo is not anymore capable (health) to assist me further in this search for ME722.
Will see if any contact can be supplied by the narrator in the above link: David Fell.

    Best wishes, PATS

    PATS, Hi,

    Q4 1923 John Pickles m. Ellen L Shiers (Reg Bradford 9b 403).
    Maurice Pickles
    b. Q1 1925 (MMS Shiers) (Reg Bradford 9b 161).

If this is your man then he would have been only about 16 years old when he Enlisted (1590407, Weston-super-Mare, shortly after 1 Sep 1941). Unusual – but not rare. He would have (a) lied about his age, and (b) not have been shaving too often!!! You need to get his Service Record to be absolutely sure this is correct.
