    Wiltshire Times and Trowbridge Advertiser - Saturday 24 October 1931 WARMINSTER. FLYING ACCIDENT. Warminster Han Injured in India. According to an official communication received from the Air Ministry this week. Flying-Officer Maurice E. Pickford (Maurice Edward Pickford #28116), second son of Sergt.-Major and Mrs. W. F. Pickford, of Thornhill, Crockerton, has met with a flying accident in India. Sergt-Major Pickford received the following letter I am directed inform you that a message has been received from the headquarters of the Royal Air Force in India reporting that your son, Flying- Officer Maurice E. Pickford, sustained shock, a punctured wound in the right leg, and multiple abrasions and contusions as a result of aeroplane accident at Kohat on the 12th inst. Your sonís injuries are said to slight and further telegraphic report is therefore expected.Ē Flying-Officer Pickford joined the R.A.F. in 1928, and held the honour of being the youngest Flying-Officer in the Force when he qualified. He is well-known in Warminster and district. A skilled pilot, Mr. Pickford was educated at Clevedon and All Hallows School, Honiton. Devon. His father has for over 30 years been a member of the Royal Wilts Yeomanry.
