    Robert,
If nobody comes up with the answer by the end of today I'll email an ex-MAO who was actually on 519 Sqn (although whether he was there when they disbanded in May 46 I don't know).

    Robert,

I don't have the Christian names of MacDonald, but his initials, taken from the ORB today, were "I N M".

Wing Commander Ian Neil Munroe MacDonald (33387)

Received the Air Force Cross, gazetted 5 June 1952. I also saw an entry for him as late as 1960.

Looking for first names for the above, presumably the squadron CO at the time.

    Col,

Thanks for that. The moral is: always check the forum for one's own question on the same topic first!

We forgive you, Robert. You are not alone. I found that I'd wasted time last week searching for some tidbit I thought I'd never hunted down before -- and in the course of my latest snooping, I found a Word file I'd created several years ago which summarized exactly the info I thought I was investigating for the first time!
