Default Crash site of Spitfire P8654 PR-L

    Good Morning Everyone

Can anyone please help regarding the crash site of Spitfire P8654 PR-L. On 11 June 1941, whilst returning damaged by enemy fire from a Roadstead in the Dunkirk area, Spitfire P8654 PR-L of No. 609 Squadron flown by Sgt. Guy Alexander Chestnut, crashed on the cliff edge at Broadstairs, Kent. Some sources say Ramsgate.

I am trying to determine a more precise location for the crash. Any help will be much appreciated.

    Kind Regards

His death is registered at Thanet, which doesn't help much, but his R.C.A.F. Service File on ancestry.com has a 'Form 3: Province of Saskatchewan - Record of Registration of Death' which gives his place of death as Ramsgate.

Thank you for your response Simon

I have seen his service record and his death registration. Documents in Air 81 state alternatively Ramsgate and Broadstairs as the place of the crash and it has been suggested that the crash site was Dumpton Gap which I understand was on the border of Broadstairs and Ramsgate in 1941. No evidence found however.

    Kind Regards
    Roy
