    Default No. 20 OTU Dec 40 - Feb 41

    Hi all,

I am trying to locate an information about crash in which Canadian observer James Garvie PIDDUCK from Montreal was injured and put on seriously ill list.

The only thing I know that in December 1940 he was posted to No. 20 OTU and as he was reported being on the seriously ill list by 17 Feb 1941 I thinks this crash may happened at this unit sometime between 3 Dec 40 and 17 Feb 41.

    Any help much appreciated.

    BCL Vol.7 records the following:

    4th February 1941 - 20 OTU
    Wellington Mk.IC R1367

Sgt D.M. Walker RNZAF - Died of Injuries.
    Sgt E.G. Morris - Killed.
    P/O J.G. Pidduck RCAF - Injured.
    Sgt S. Summersgill - Killed.
    Sgt J.K. Blencoe - Killed.
    Sgt P.G. Carvenec - Injured.

"T/o Lossiemouth for a cross country and practice bombing detail. While circling the aircraft, at 1040, the Wellington went out of control and crashed on the SE side of the aerodrome."

I don't have anything from the ORB for this period, I seem to remember that a fair bit of their 1st year is missing.

BTW Alan it was really on the 4th? The RAF Aircraft serials by Air-Britain stated 14.2.1941 for Wellington Mk.IC R1367...

    Thanks

    Pavel

Sorry Alan, already verified myself on CWGC site.
