That book is "New Zealanders with the RAF, Vol 3 (Mediterranean and Middle East, South-east Asia)", by Wing Commander H L Thompson, published by War History Branch, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington, New Zealand (1959). References to Rutherford on pages 273, 293, photo in question is in a group of photos situated between pages 214 and 215, all RNZAF pilots except for one RAF (P M Bingham-Wallace). Thanks..I found the book on-line. Very intereting read as it added more depth to my understanding of what it was like at the time. I *think* I could see a picture of Andrew in the pages you quoted. A win.
