    Default Hythe kite balloon station

Rather out of context for this forum I appreciate, but I'm trying to identify the location of the Hythe Kite Balloon Station in WW1 (circa 1918), and I have a sneaking suspicion that there's a passing reference to it in 'Kent Airfields' by Robin Brooks. I'd be grateful if anyone who has a copy could have a look please.

I'm pretty sure it was on the ranges to the west of Hythe, there being no other obvious locality.

The query was posted on 'The Aerodrome' forum (specialises in WW1) but no-one has come up with an answer.

    TIA
    Brian

This site is supposed to be able to provide a map of the location of the Base but I can't seem to get the java popup to work. It maybe my computer or the site but give it a go or you could contact them directly:

Many thanks Amrit, just the sort of link for which I was looking. Although the aerial photo/map isn't displayed in this instance, the enquirer should be able to obtain an answer through the 'Contact us' page.

For everyone else this is a website worth remembering as it is excellent and very comprehensive. There have been a number of queries about the locations of airfields in the past, for which the answer could have been found on this website. Worth placing on the Useful Books etc page.

PS Don't you ever go to bed?
