    Rol, Hi,
On 24 Sep 1944 a nasty, vigorous, low-pressure system tracked from mid-Wales to East Anglia. Near Gale Force surface winds in places. A complex frontal system was embedded in this depression. There was much moderate rain/showers accompanied by low cloud and poor vis. Definitely NOT Gp Capt’s flying weather!
You can see the details at https://digital.nmla.metoffice.gov.u...-dfb5b6cae459/. But remember that the coding of the Obs in the Daily Register is not the same as it is now!

    Rod,
6 (P) AFU was at Little Rissington on 26 Sep 1944 [RAFWEB]. Looks like ‘Local Flying’?
Little Rissington is in the North Cotswold Registration District [FREEBMD].
Beard’s death is Reg in Q3 1944 North Cotswold Vol 6a Page 494 [FREEBMD]
Beard’s Death Cert (obtainable from GRO) will give the precise Location/Cause of Death.
If there was an RAF Court of Inquiry then the evidence of the 6 (P) AFU Authorising Officer would make interesting reading. [TNA?]
Once the Impact Location has been found then the Police and/or Coroner’s files might be interesting!
There might have been something in the local Press. Not my expertise!

    Hello Roi

I have the serial as EB700 which came down at Bourton Hill Farm, Clapton but on the 28th; as per ABS. You have the death cert, please confirm the date for me.
BTW this incident is not recorded in Wings over Glos.

    Thanks
