Default Flt Lt S.W. Scruse - No. 88 Squadron

    Hi to all,
Recently I acquired a medal group named to Flight Lieutenant Stanley Warren Scruse (131499). Happy as a child with it!

I am trying to find out more information about his life and RAF career in particular. Who could help out?
He served with No. 88 Squadron.
Anyone in the posession of some ORB's of this unit?

    Many thanks in advance

    Jelle

Where you have conducted research so far Jelle, and what have you found out? London Gazette, Air Force List, Ancestry, Find My Past, etc?

Sorry: I have been incomplete in my question
What I have found, I placed here (as I am a contributor for TracesofWar)

    https://www.tracesofwar.com/persons/...ley-Warren.htm

The biographical details were kindly provided by a friend on a specialized facebook-group. My guess is the details came from Ancestry.

Thanks Dennis for your directions to ORB's. I was hoping that someone is already in posession of the ORB's of 88 Squadron and was willing to have a look for me....

Thats all I know for now

    Hello,

Scruse's regular pilot on No.88 Sqn., was AUS400404 P/O Sydney Charles Bertram ABBOTT RAAF (later DFC 15-6-43 464 Sqn RAAF + 9-8-1943 487 Sqn Ventura II AJ454 - BCL8/188). Abbot's regular observer was AUS404194 P/O William Lloyd ALLEY RAAF. Flt Sgt S C B ABBOTT RAAF was originally posted to No.88 Sqn., (from 13 OTU), along with Scruse, on 12-9-1941.

You might find the following sortie list for AUS400404 Sydney Charles Bertram ABBOTT RAAF, useful. (Ventura sorties are with 464 Sqn RAAF):

Hit by flak in port engine - returned safely.

    P/O S W SCRUSE RAF

Unfortunately I only have the 88 Sqn ORB for Sep 43 - Jun 44. If that's any help, please shout up.
