Hi Dennis, Thank you. Her name was Mona Mae Gallop. Yes she did live in Bristol at that time.

She never really discussed it to mosts recollection. Probably due to my grandfather.

Not a single other detail i'm affraid.

    CRUTTENDEN Obs 203 Sqn - 10/05/41 - Blenheim L1974 ( 204 Sqn ?).
This along with the others listed in AIR81/6379 "Squadron Leader J P Gethin, Sergeant L White, Sergeant E C Cruttenenden: killed; aircraft crashed, enemy action, South Rutbah Fort, Iraq, Blenheim L1974, 204 Squadron, 10 May 1941. " is a problem with the serial.

L1974 appears to be a Hurricane. No other Blenheim that has 1974 in its serial as far as I can query in the serial DB.. did I miss a block of numbers? Whats the correct serial here?

    Hello Javan,

Well spotted I will look deeper for this Blenheim's serial number, It does seem odd ?

Could it just be the result of a very old typo error ?
    I see that L9174 203 Sqn crashed on 9th May, 41. [ AB L1000- N9999 ].
What/where did this crash happen and her crew were ?

    Hello,

Take a look at RAF Bomber Losses in the Middle East and Mediterranean, Vol.1, p.60.

Had not yet checked that book but did look at "Dust Clouds in the Middle East" .
Pages 178-179 gives an account of Sqn/Ldr Gethin's action on the 10th, and details a/c as a IVF serial number L9174.
