    Default G/Cpt A. Evans-Evans 19018

Hello. Has anyone ever looked at G/Cpt Evans-Evans logbook, AIR 4/31. He did 3 ops with 419 Sq between Jan 42 and Mar 42. Was wondering if he listed the crew on his fist op on Jan 21/22,1942 to Boulogne. I have the nav only as P/O Bond. Looking for the 2nd Pilot, Wireless Op and two gunners.

    Thanks Richard

    Hello Richard ,

There is no trace of G/Cpt Evans-Evans in the 419 sqdn ORB.

I think Evans-Evans was with 115 Sqn early in the war and that he had baled out at one stage but have not followed that through.

I had a bust up with Max Hastings over his comments that E-E was a figure of fun because of his size (but he still turned out as goal keeper for the football team). Hastings also made comments about E-E's DFC and the manner in which he met his death which I found unacceptable. Rant Over!!!!

Evans-Evans may of been the Co at Mildenhall but if you look at the ORB reel C-12291 page 1762 and 1763 his name is there ,also, here.http://heritage.canadiana.ca/view/oo...2/1212?r=0&s=3

The 617 Squadron F 540 has him flying with Wing Commander Cheshire on a 617 Squadron op against a site at Pas De Calais on 4 Jan 1944 but the F541 (Record of work) for the same raid does not show him on Cheshire’s aircraft (Lancaster DV 380)!

His logbooks are held at Kew under AIR 4/31. Viewing them should clear up the dates he flew on.
