its on findmypast.co.uk, this might hold some good answers actually!!!
I was looking up one of my Pre War Bail Outs today (Charles Percy Ginn) and found him on the Electoral Registers 1920-1932
I looked at one record and it says:
1925 England & Wales, Electoral Registers 1920-1932
Parish of Weedon
228 Ginn, Percy Charles "Red Lion" 110968 A/Sgt RAF
I am not sure of electional area but every one on page is in Active Service and gives
Rank and Service Number (and Unit for some)
in RN/Army/RAF if NCO and Rank if Officer
its on findmypast.co.uk, this might hold some good answers actually!!!

OK - I have found a bit more about using the Electoral Roll - Best explained by an example
On 16 March 1923 28 Squadron Bristol F.2b crashed in India J6779
The casualty file raised for the pilot is available at RAF Hendon Vault - and has CoI report and mentioned second crewman

http://fotos.crowfile.com/_fotos_/46...00042769.jpg?1
Pilot was F/O de Fontenay, Philippe Andre de Fontenay who was injured in the crash at Dardoni /India
- See http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/sho...artial-Impacts
and https://www.greatwarforum.org/topic/...-fontenay-rfc/ (confirming WW2 attached Free French)
Anyway the second crewman injured is listed as AC2 C N Tipper 326225
The issue I had was that 326225 was issued William George Keates
I found C N Tipper on Air 78 as #326335 - So we know the number was a typo.. Anyway who is C N Tipper
It is an unusual name and initials to be able to be searchable from 1899 to 1905 in FreeBmd (i.e.at least 18 in 1923 but who had not served in WW1) - the 3nnnnn series of numbers were from around 1918 onwards and I found a Cleon Norval Tipper born 1902
Birth 12 Apr 1902 Kidderminster, Worcestershire, England
Death Oct 1984 Kidderminster, Worcestershire, England
OK how can I prove C N Tipper was Cleon Norval Tipper ?
Well the 1939 Register had his job down as Aircraft Fitter - which is a good clue (he had worked with aircraft but not 100%) - BUT also the 1925 Electoral Roll had him down in Worcestershire but with NM and a along his name looking up these code show
https://www.archives.norfolk.gov.uk/...urther-reading
NM: Naval or military voter
a: Absent voter (serving in the armed forces)
Thus I know that Cleon Norval Tipper was in Armed Services in 1925 and abroad - and that a a C N Tipper was in RAF - I am therefore 100% convinced I have the right name and the second crewman was
AC2 Cleon Norval Tipper #326335
He was absent in 1926 Electoral Roll but looks like he back home in England by 1927 - Consistent maybe with a 5 years or 7 ?? - I think enlisted airman interwar went overseas for one or other can anyone confirm - I think officers was for 3 years ?
Just wanted to alert you all to the important fact that not only do some Electoral roll have service number - they are also a good clue to both military service and serving overseas
