Default P/O Basil Alexander MITCHELL 39107

    Hi,

This officer was shot down and made PoW with No.49 Squadron in June 1940. Trying to establish if this is the same P/O Mitchell who served on 218(B) Squadron with the AASF in 1939/40.

Can anyone check the 49 ORB to see where he was posted in from.

    TIA

You can check the ORBs online yourself, I've posted instructions a few times.

    Steve,

Mitchell was a New Zealander. Prior to 49 Squadron, which he was posted to on 30 Apr 38, he served with 113 Squadron, having been posted there on 1 Jun 37. (Sourced from RAF Air Force Lists).

    Hi Erroll,

    Thank you.

That counts him out as the officer who served on 218(B) Squadron.
