Default Sgt. G. D. K. Jones, Welington R1506 - Service Number and names

    Hello everyone

Sgt. G. D. K. Jones is recorded as being taken P.o.W. after Wellington R1506 of 149 Sqn was lost on May 8th 1941. The P.o.W. database on the Forum has his Service No. as 841814, but Air 78 has a card for JONES G. D. K. 741814 (presumably the same chap, of course - I can't seem to find him anywhere else in Air 78).

Obviously the difference in numbers gives a widely different option for when he joined the R.A.F. 741814 would be 1937, 841814 would be 1925...

So, which is correct? And if anyone has any ideas where can I find his first names, I'd be grateful.

    Many thanks

    Regards

    Simon

    Searching in freebmd.org.uk

    For G* D K Jones

Gives one hit for a George D K Jones born in Q3 1913 in Newbury District. Now, there might be G D K Jones born in Scotland, Ireland, Isle of Man also, but given the low serial number and birth in 19143, would make some sense.

From ancestry.com, England and Wales death register index
Death wise, a George David K Jones, DoB 29 Jul 1913 and died in Dec 1985 , death registered Henley district.

    That would be my suggestion
