    Roy,
The LG gives 658836/197826 as being an Alfred SYMONDS. Cmd RAFVR 8 Apr 1945 - but I can't find him in FREEBMD either!

    Thanks Peter,
From 21-10-41 he is referred to as Sgt Simmons in the 276 sqn ORB, 2 year later he is referred as WO AG Simmons on B Flt 276 sqn. Hence my query to this board.
    Many thanks,
    Roy

    Hello

Just to confirm Peter's findings, Air 78/154 has SYMONDS Alfred 658836.

To add to the mix a little, the 1939 Register has an Alfred H. Symonds, born August 3rd 1915, living at 23 Burnaby Street, Cardiff, employed as an Aircraft Fitter.

    Regards

    Simon

Does the ORB state his service number(s) alongside the spelling of Simmons? For up to two years spelled wrongly?

You can look at them for free with water mark, no need to spend unless something is covered by watermark

    See instructions I prepared

So, you can't say for certain that you seen either serial number listed against the Simmons surname? Have you looked at Simmons names in AIR78, for how many A* G* Simmons there might have been
