Default Bristol Beaufort Mk.I W6521 of 22 Squadron.

    Hi,

The above was shot down on June 13th 1941 on a night time shipping strike off Norway.

Can anyone tell the cause of loss please.

    TIA

… but seriously, Steve: CC Losses (BTW, still hoping for Vol 2, Ross!) says it was lost on a shipping strike. Based Wick. T/O 23:50. FTR from a shipping strike to Stavanger (search of the Norwegian coast for the Lutzow) and believed shot down off the coast by Ltn Wienhusen. S/L 'Eddie' Culverwell and his crew are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
