Default RAF service record application - how long does it take?

Approximately how long does it take these days for a request via Cranwell for a WWII RAF service record to be processed?

I'm asking the question on behalf of a son (resident New Zealand) regarding the RAF record for his deceased Dad (who was a Brit at time of RAF service).

Presumably the copy of the record is despatched to New Zealand per airmail and not sent by snail mail?

    TIA,

    Errol

About 6 weeks in my recent experience, Errol. My applications include my email address, and Cranwell acknowledges receipt 2-3 days after it is posted - the 6 weeks starts then. Certainly much faster than it used to be. A record arrives by snail mail.

Interestingly enough what I have found to be the most difficult part of the application proces is that it is not possible to pay online. You have to send a cheque, which is a concept that have been abolished on Denmark years ago :-)
