    Default FL DAVID JOHN McBRIEN RAFVR 1292469,108811, DFC

    Hello again,
    Could anyone please tell me this officer's DOB and location please, He flew from 1943 with 276 ASR sqn and was awarded the DFC and MID. I think he came from Horley, Surrey.
    Any info would be most welcome.

    I can find a David John McBrien
    b. 14 Sep 1922 Naini Tal, Bengal Presidency (current name/loc not known, but possibly at 29.38N 79.45E (GE 29.379664 79.463361))
    d. Dec 2001 Reg Worthing 7861D, 1DD, 239.

    Perhaps you have this already:

    McBRIEN, David John, F/O (108811, RAFVR*) - No.276 Squadron - Distinguished Flying Cross - awarded as per London Gazette dated 25 May 1943. Born in Naini Tal, India, 1922; home in Harley, Surrey. Educated at Ealing Priory School and Dawnside School, Bath. Enlisted 1940; commissioned 1941. Citation in Air Ministry Bulletin

    "Flying Officer McBrien has participated in a large number of air/sea rescue searches during which he has rescued eight members of air crew from the sea. He has always displayed exceptional courage and skill and a particular keenness to undertake hazardous missions. As flight commander this officer has ser a magnificent example."

    Agree with Lyffe re Downside (Abbey) School.
    I had an aunt who taught music there many years ago! In those days they kept a record of what their pupils got up to in later life.
    If you ever approach them for info, can you let us know if the School uses the GDPR legislation as a reason for not responding?
