    Hi Mark,

You could well be right about the m/c accident. The death register is not specific on the point but gives as when and where died:

"at about 12.15 am on Saturday 20 June 1942 on a road known as the Kirkinner and Bladnoch road at a part thereof in Kirkinner district opposite the dwelling occupied by Alexander Rogers, an engineer." The 'cause of death' is given as compound fracture of the skull.

The location is SW of Wigtown airfield.

    Thank you Dave,

The information about the motorcycle accident comes from I.T Tavender's The Distinguished Flying Medal - A Record of Courage 1918-1982.

After surviving 29 operations with Bomber Command, to die in a traffic accident !
I also believe he was an instructor at Wigtown airfield Observers School. His citation mentions him being a qualified astro-navigator !

    Thanks again

    Mark
