Default Lancaster ME571 - individual letters

Hi all, I am interested which individual letter Lancaster ME571 wore around 20.4.1944?

    According to this page: http://www.adf-serials.com.au/lancaster.htm
    ME571 Mk. I 463 Sqn. 15/02/44 to 21/05/44, JO-W.

    but http://www.lancaster-archive.com/lan...crashsites.pdf
    suggests:
    ME571 463 Sqn, RAAF del'd 4-2-44 JO-P, JO-T, JO-W

    Any help much appreciated

    TIA

    Hello,

ME571, initially was with 44 Sqn RAF as KM-P. On transfer to 463 (RAAF) Sqn, it was coded as JO-P (letter unchanged). It was flown on 8 ops by AUS404368 S/L Frank Brian May WILSON RAAF (later DFC).

    Then, No.463 (RAAF) Sqn - 20/21-4-1944- LA CHAPPELLE - ME571:JO-P - Capt: AUS415662 P/O Colin JAMES RAAF (later F/O. DFC).

NB. James also flew ME571:JO-P on the 26/27-4-1944 SCHWEINFURT raid.

Later, ME571:JO-P, was generally flown by AUS416994 P/O Murray Edmund PRATTEN RAAF (for 14 of his 16 ops). He was lost in this aircraft on 21/22-5-1944, on an op to DUISBURG.

    Col,
