    Default Sgt W.A. Eccles A/G - POW

    Hi All,

Could anyone tell me if Sgt. Eccles, 9 Sqdn. shot down on 9/6/1941 is mentioned in the book 'Footprints on the Sands of Time' by Oliver Clutton-Brock.

    Many thanks,

    Russ

This is rather intriguing. He should be in Footprints as he is listed as a POW, of Wellington T2620. And he appears in The Times as a POW - "Sgt William A Eccles of New Moston, Manchaster".

    Thanks Eddie and Amrit,

I must admit I expected him to be in 'Footsteps'....has anyone any idea why not?

    Andy,

    Front part of this forum.

Intersting that some POW's are listed here as being at L6 but others at Stalag 357.

The vast majority of POW's were moved from Stalag Luft 6 to Stalag 357 Thorn around 13th July 1944 and then to Stalag 357 Fallingbostal, arriving August 1944. Only the very sick were left behind at L6.

I also can't find him listed in the relevant volume of W R Chorley under the POW section at the back of the book although he is listed as pow in the relvant entry for the aircraft loss.
