Default F/Lt Patrick Fuller Dillon DFC - 692 Sqdn

F/Lt Dillon received a DFC in Sep 1944 after a tour with 692 Sqn (8 Group PFF and LNSF). I know he was later with 511 Sqdn - please can anybody tell me if he was a pilot or navigator ?
    Thanks for your help PeteS

    Hi Pete

Have you tried looking at those squadrons' ORB's online on the TNA website? They should indicate whether he was a pilot or nav.

    Ian

Edit: Looks like he was a Nav. The 692 Sqn ORB for Feb '44 (for example), entry on 5/2/1944, lists F/L V S Moore DSO and F/O P F Dillon in Mosquito IV, DZ547.
Edit 2: Also with Moore to Dusseldorf on 29/2/1944 in DZ534.
Edit 3: Plus, the monthly summary entry for 17 Feb '44 mentions "A/F/L V. S. Moore (Pilot)" as being posted.

    Hello,

Sharp & Bowyer in their book, Mosquito:

Two modified aircraft reached 692 Squadron on 4 February, 1944, after a brief stay with 627 Squadron. Sqn Ldr Watts D.F.C. with Flg Off Hassell, took off at 19.03 on 23 February in DZ647:B. Almost immediately Flt Lt V.S.Moore with Flg Off P.F.Dillon in DZ534:M followed.

    and ...

Flt Lt Val Moore and his navigator, Pat Dillon, were nearing Berlin on 18 July (1944).

    Mosquito,
    Sharp,C.Martin & Michael Bowyer,
    London:Faber & Faber,1971.
    pp.308 & 312.

    So, a navigator.
