    Hello again

With regards to THOMPSON, Thomas Arthur - AC1c - 1427893 Air 78/157 has 1427893 THOMPSON Thomas John, which may explain why he was proving hard for me to find!

There is a Thomas J. Thompson, aged 42, registered Paddington in the Oct/Nov/Dec quarter 1947. The UK Burial and Cremation Index on ancestry.co.uk has a Thomas John Thompson, buried November 24th 1947 in Kensington and Chelsea.

    Regards

    Simon

    Hello Simon,

So are you suggesting that CWGC entry is incorrect ?

Either the CWGC entry or the Air 78 entry is wrong. As to which one...?

I'll drop the CWGC an e-mail on Monday and see what they say.

    regards

    Simon

Thank you Simon, I appreciate your help in doing so.
In the past I have done so and it takes a while for them to react and adjust their documentations.

I've just sent them an e-mail. From previous experience, if it's just a matter of checking their own records, it takes a week or so to get a reply.

    I'll keep you posted.

Just had a reply from the CWGC, asking for sources, so I've sent them his Air 78 card, plus a scan of the burial register from Kensal Green Cemetery showing the date of burial.

The second source may be deemed circumstantial, but we'll see what they say...

    Regards

    Simon

EDIT - got a reply this morning. No dice - they need census records, a birth certificate and death certificate, plus some military records.

No idea how I'm supposed to prove an entry on the census is him, as there is no address, age or relatives listed on the CWGC entry...!

They've said they'll keep the images on file, but until they get the further documentation, they'll not change the entry. Surely they can't expect me to fork out for birth and death certificates, plus his R.A.F. records?

How likely is it that the Air 78 card is wrong?
