Default FO Geoffrey Wyndham Pain 221Squadron RAFVR

It is recorded that he died 18/4/43. I have gone to the operations records that month from the NA but he is not mentioned...nor a lost plane. He is he only person of 96 killed during the war from my school that I have such scant details. Book about to be finished! Can anyone help? Philip

    108150 Geoffrey Wyndham Pain, D.F.C.

    See: http://www.rafcommands.com/archive/04431.php

His D.F.C. was reported in the Birmingham Daily Gazette of February 6th 1943:

Flying Officer Pain, the Birmingham man who was awarded the D.F.C. has, the official citation says, shown remarkable initiative and determinatoion as navigator. On two recent occasions his skill was instrumental in loating targets and in obtaining oustanding results.

    Regards

    Simon

    Hi Phillip,

    Good luck with the book.

    Trying to do something similar.

    Cheers,

    John.
