    Default Auberive-sur-Suippe Airfield

    Hi,

In November 1939, member of the Royal Engineers began working on clearing and making a runway on a satelite aerodrome. Does anyone know the location of this?

    TIA

There is a local map here: https://218squadron.wordpress.com/au...ippe-airfield/. The airfield was to the SE of Reims

    Hi Steve,

...The two squadrons formed 75 Wing under G/C Wann, whose HQ was at Auberive, with Mourmelon-le-Grand as a satellite, and 88 Squadron moved there on the 12th. ...

    Steve,

I cannot prove it 100% but I believe the satellite for Auberieve is Moscou Ferme, SW of the village of Prosnes. Both airfields seem to be south-west of their respective villages and Moscou Ferme airfield seems to be approximately 10 km SW of Auberieve airfield. It had the British codename 'Bobbie'.

I have Moscou Ferme (BOBBIE) as being at GE 49.198074 4.318361. This is 2 km ENE of the centre of Prosnes. Where am I going wrong?
I also cannot satisfactorily locate Echmines, Heray, La Boissiere, Warecoing, and Istres-Marderue, on that list of airfields. Anybody else located them precisely?
    TIA

    Peter,

I think now my reference to 'SW of the village of Prosnes' was wrong. I took this from the Google Maps site for Prosnes airfield.
However I see the 'Luftwaffe Airfields, France' online resource by Larry deZeng (linked by Col Bruggy above) shows it 3.5 km WNW of Prosnes ( 49 12 25 N - 04 15 05 E ) ! Until proven otherwise, such as aerial photos, I would go with this latter source.

    Regards,

    Martin.
