Default Photographic Development Unit Heston 1940

    Hi,

Does anyone have a copy of the ORB for the Photographic Development Unit, Heston and special flight.

    AIR 40/1495.

If so could they look up the movements / flights of the following pilots, F/Lt Daish and F/O Crews ( both ex 218 ) from Feb 20th 1940 until May 5th 1940.

    TIA

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

The earliest I have been able to find any mention of Harry Daish with the PDU (actually 212 Sqn in France) is 20 Apr 40. He was still in France on 05 May 40.

Regards F/O Crews I have never come across anyone with that name with the PDU/PRU.

Not sure if you are aware but Daish's logbook is extant. It was auctioned by Christies a number of years ago. I did contact them and they were very helpful but the buyer had changed address so they were unable to forward on my enquiry. All my subsequent efforts have failed to locate the logbook.

    Best Regards

    Hi Andy,

The 218 ORB records Crews, Daish and Richmond ( I have a copy of Richmonds Log Book) all being posted the same day. Richmond is still at Heston up until March 25th when he was posted to 212 Squadron. F/O Crews is back on 218 by late March, Daish did not return.

    Cheers

    bvs,

Thanks for the info Crews. He must not have been deemed to have the "right stuff" and was sent back to his unit.

Steve, do you know Crews' subsequent career and fate?

    Cheers

    Andy,

Each of the three pilots were only on attachment, it's a bit harsh on Crews.
