    Default 13 SFTS crash 8 Sept 1944 F/Sgt Hashim

Can anybody tell me the aircraft type and serial please?
All of my searches only yield "entered a spin and crashed". The 13 SFTS log only mentions 2 officers walking for 30 minutes through a swamp to recover the bodies. Pax was L/AW Muriel A. North, who also perished in the crash..

The R.C.A.F. Service Records of Muriel Almyra North records that she was killed in Harvard 4791 (but this seems to be incorrect - 4791 is a Fleet Finch serial?). She is recorded as a Photographer, and a passenger in the aircraft flown by William Hashim, which crashed 5 miles south west of Old Battleford, Saskatoon.

On page 6 of the Sep 44 ORB under Wireless Section - The morning was interrupted by a fatal crash. A/C 2579 crashed into the small lake in the Low Flying Area.

And at the end of that month is a summary of accidents where its also listed but this time as 2379

Lots of typos! 2379 was Lysander struck off in 1943

2579 was a Harvard struck off in Nov 1944

The date an aircraft is struck off charge is not always the date of its accident, it can post date it by months and even years

And note RCAF serials site says it served with 37 SFTS, it does not suggest it crashed with 37 SFTS.

    Frank,
the aircraft involved was Harvard 2579. The full accident report is available at the link below and runs to image 580 with much duplication. The serial can be easily read from the accident photos.
