    Default RAF man details : 236 Sqdn W/C. A.R. de H. INNIS

    Hello,

I search information about Wing Commander A.R. de H. INNISS, who pursued all his career during WW II in 236 Sqdn (F/O in 1940 ... and C.O. with the rank of W/C later)

    Information I search :

    - his complete first names (initials : A.R.) and meaning of "H" (de H.)
    - his date of birth
    - his claims
    - the date of his successive ranks
    - his citations and awards

I search, too, a picture showing W/C de H. INNISS

    Thank you very much

    Pierre

    Default London Gazette online

    hello Pierre,

Plenty of hits using the London Gazette :
    http://www.gazettes-online.co.uk/SearchResults.aspx?GeoType=London&st=adv&sb=date&h edocid=1143692&FDay=15&FMth=3&FYr=1939&TDay=31&TMt h=12&TYr=1948&all=inniss%2042005&

Full name is Aubrey Richard de Lisle INNISS (so not de H.)
    Service number 42005.

I was quite used to the old version of the London Gazette online and find the new site more difficult to use.

    Hi Pierre

Check out 'Flight' magazine on line. Hits there show DFC with 248 Sqn and Bar with 83 Sqn so not always with 236 (if we have the right man)

    Hi Pierre

To add to John's information, Inniss shared two Ju88s on 29/1/43. His DFC citation mentions 7 kills in total (apparently his logbook shows 8 Ju88s and one shared FW200 whilst with 248 Squadron). He didn't serve with 83 Squadron, but was CO of 39 Squadron (Beaufighter X) 1943/1944 and became Wing commander Flying at Athens in March 1944.

    Cheers
