    Default Confirmation of serial number

    Hello,
Confirmation of a/c serial number please.

    On October 10th, 1939 , 233 Sqn Hudson, crewed by F/O. C.H.C.CLARK, P/O. W.E.LOCKLEY, AC1c. B.N.BLADES and AC2c. W.M.COCHRANE, flew into high ground in Fifeshire.
The a/c serial number is quoted in some sources as being "N7226".
However the ORB gives it as a/c "Y", also as N7227.
I note also that a/c N7226 is recorded in the ORB on later dates.
So would go as did Ross in the RAF CC L book that it was indeed N7227,"ZS-Y" that was lost with Clark and his crew on the 10th.

    Alex,

Definitely N7227 as N7226 had a reasonably long service life until January 1943, based on the F.78 entries for both.

    Regards,

    Martin.
