I think he is Peter Leslie McDermott born 1924 died 2014in Wellington New Zealand
I don’t know if he was born in NZ
He was in navy 10 years but travelled to NZ after 1955 as air traffic conttoller
This aircraft was w/o 20/03/1951 and Lt McDermott was the first British Serviceman to use a Martin Baker ejection seat
This was at West Raynham and while he was on 787 Sqn following engine failure
The question I have is that can anyone provide Lt P L McDermott’s full name ?
Many thanks Paul

There's a Peter L. McDermott, birth registered Prescott, Lancs, June 1924, mother's maiden name Dixon.

Hi Paul,
No help with identification but there is a piece in"Attacker from the cockpit" ,Ad Hoc pubs 2008, describing the incident which may be of interest. Its by Lt/Com Don Moore-Searson also on 787 Sqn which he describes as the Naval Air Fighting Development Unit (NAFDU).
And there are several photos of a Peter McDermott with 803 Sqn
regards Peter
