There is a Lawrence J B Smith born 1926 Avon Bristol who might be him. Air 78 is unreadable for the Lawrence Smiths

On 15.09.51 He was flying Gloster Meteor F.8 WB106 at RAF Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire when he was in collision with WE869 flown by F/O Robin Pavey #607072. Both were in 63 Sqn

Pavey was killed, Smith ejected OK
