Ok Alex, can't help there, but I thought you might have been going on to other internments in Turkey. Some B24's were interned in 1943 after the Ploesti raids, and I beleive, one or more crews managed to re-hijack their B24's from the Turks, when the Turks were forcing the interned American crews to teach Turkish pilots to fly the B24's, they outsmarted the Turks, and flew them out to Cyprus.

Yes, that's right but the Liberator had to be returned to Turkey .
My present interest however are the RAF and Commonwealth Air Force's.

In regard to the US a/c interned I have details if you want and can over a few days send to you in a pm.
Most sadest event happened more recently when a Polesti /Turkish internee survivor while on a cruise liner. The linner was captured by terrorist and he, in a wheelchair was pushed over the side of the ship and drowned.

Thanks Alex, yes that would be of interest. There are IWM photos of the American crews standing by those B24's at Nicosia, with Turkish markings on the tail.

Some additional interned aircraft and crews in Turkey,1944.

    31/01/1944
    Beaufighter TF.X
    LZ377
    252 Squadron.
    F/Sgt. H, A, Stevenson.
    Sgt. C, Thompson.

    06/02/1944
    Beaufighter TF.X
    LZ345
    252 Squadron.
    F/O. Cyril Henry Mason.
    Sgt. J, R, Smith.

    11/02/1944
    Beaufighter VIc
    JL585
    227 Squadron.
W/O. Keith, Fielding, Wright - 999812, RAFVR, Phaleron War Cemetery, Greece.
    F/Sgt. G, L, Jones.

    16/09/1944
    Beaufighter TF.X
    NV215
    603 Squadron.
Sqn/Ldr. A, G, Deck, DFC. ( second time interned in Turkey,).
    F/O. C, A, Heide, DFC.

The serial number NV215 conflicts with the a/c of Mason and Peacey, 19 Squadron SAAF lost Serbia 17/09/1944 according to this forums serial number database . also Air Brits NA100- NZ999 but 16.9.44. Might it have been NV213 ?

I also think that this Beaufighter may well have been misidentified as a Marauder , see my other post about the unknown Marauder interned on the 16th September, 1944 .
