To pick up on the uncertainty shown in the original posts re this aircraft, the Uxbridge & West Drayton Gazette of Saturday 30th April 1932 carries a report which names aircraftman J.Simms of RAF Northolt, and states that the aircraft was little damaged. It also says that the accident occurred 'last Wednesday', which would have been the 26th April. The SOC date in The K File is therefore incorrect, perhaps it should read 26th April, or maybe 6 May.
I was unable to get back into the newspaper file due to 'maintenance', so I hope I have recalled the salient facts correctly.

PS added Saturday 16th November

Another newspaper, The Gloster Citizen of 21 April, has been found that also reports this incident or certainly another one that is almost identical. This puts the location as Boxmoor, Herts and names the pilot as Aircraftsman Sims from Halton Camp.

Doesn;'t the K file have this going to 54 Sqn after 41 Sqn. Those Markings definitely 41 Sqn and South African Flying Officer Jack Blanchard Sims #29249 was on 41 Sqn at time

I think it repaired went to 54 Sqn and soc later 6.4.3x;

I will see if i can find an unidentified 54 Sqn loss one that may match

Hello Paul,
Just happen to have K file book to hand.

K2190
Deld to 41 Sqn 13.11.31; 54 Sqn. Crashed into Boxmoor Cutting, Croydon, Essex, and SOC 6.4.32; exact location not verified.

So 41 Sqn first then 54 Sqn. Perhaps markings had not been changed at the time of the crash ?
Perhaps the crash took place while being delivered to 54 Sqn ?

Date apparently Wed 20th April 1932

Simms was on 41 Sqn at the time and at Northolt 54 Sqn were at Hornchurch
