    Thanks gents; will do, Brian.

Thanks Paul; I have it already, but I appreciate you asking.

Actually, Paul, I might have a 'go-back' on the AM175, if I may.

Could help me decipher something else, please? Interesting that he joined the RAF as an 18-year-old Private in May 1918, but received the 1914/15 Star. His AM175 indicates prior service as a Signalman in the Cadet Battalion (no dates) of what looks like "RYR", but that middle letter is the problem. There was no 'Royal Yorkshire Regiment', so can you work out what that middle letter might be...?

    Thanks

    Steve

Actually look to be to be "Cadet Batt R, YR"

So could be Yorkshire Regiment - which did exist in 1918, R may be "R Company, or Reserve)

definitely a comma though in text

Army history definitely not my forte but the Yorkshire Regiment (as such) did not exist until 2006.

I found this the other day and forgot to post it - on the Auxiliaries.com website

    http://theauxiliaries.com/men-alphab...ea-slater.html

There is some extra info to partly expand his service history.

Well done Paul - that makes it simpler :) - I hadn't realised that the Full Regimental title was not used in WW1.
