    Podporucznik Julian KAWCZYNSKI (P/1670) Pilot

    308 Sq ORB:
    6.7.42 Meanwhile Squadron do formation flying and later flying in section of 4. During this P/O Kawczynski and Sgt Herbst collided. Kawczynski is killed outright and Sgt Herbs seriously wounded is taken to hospital.

    6 July. Spitfire V BL624 (ZF-X) P/O Kawczynski. KAS During training flight over Ridhards Bridk Yard, Godstone (Surrey), collided with a/c piloted by Sgt Herbst.
    Spitfire V BL482 Sgt Herbst. See above. Pilot seriously wounded.

    On the same night Wellington IC T2612/XW-H was shot down by Luftwaffe ace Helmut Lent at Andijk north-west of Enkhuisen, Holland, killing Maksymilian Niemczyk, Zygmunt Wieczorek, Stanislaw Wolski, Aleksander Rozdzynski and Wlozimierz Jerzy Mikos after their bombing raid on Bremen. One of its engines was recovered by NFLA in 1974 and there is a memorial at the site between the streets 'Hoekweg' and 'Kleingouw'.

    T/O 04.40 h from Fristonu to anti-shpping aptrol near Fécamp. He attacked some shipping near Fécamp but was hit into engine by falk. Bailed out at 05.00 h but probably drowned.

    Jagan I have tried my best to cover most of the Polish unaccounted casualties + one Czech casualty. If I have missed some I will check the Europe list once more when those will be processed into the DB.
