My final posting, which again I found via the Maidenhead Advertiser... Which

Miss Doris Hume aged 26 died in 1941 as a result of septic abortion 'the death was labelled suicide'

Apparently she was pregnant via an American Pilot in the ATA - he was named as Kenneth Meryl Steed, who was married with children and who's wife was in California at the time

Just a note about the ATA pilot.

Kenneth Meryl Seeds was killed on the 8th October 1941 in Wellington Z8424 when the aircraft struck Snaefell on the Isle of Man in cloud. He was flying the aircraft from Hawarden to Aldergrove.

His headstone makes no reference to him being married only that he was the son of Fred and Mary E. Seeds of Burley, Idaho.
