    Default Sgt Thomas Sanderson 563398

I'm not really sure where to post this but a forum search for Sgt. THOMAS SANDERSON, 563398 shows that he was a crewman on a Wellington X3170 of 11 OTU which crashed in 1941.
However his date of death is shown as 2 November 1940.

I have a copy of his death certificate which shows that Thomas died at RAF Henlow, Bedfordshire of paralytic ileus and acute appendicitis on 2 November 1940.
He is buried in Galashiels (Eastland) Cemetery in Selkirkshire and his grave marker was provided by *the O/C and officers of No.11 Bombing Squadron Bassingbourne" - it can be viewed on findagrave.

I think that he was an apprentice at RAF Halton as he is on the Old Haltonians database.

He was born in 1912 in Wallsend-on-Tyne, Tynemouth, Northumberland (where his father was a policeman) and is named on the Caddonfoot Parish War Memorial near Galashiels, Selkirkshire.

Can a mod place this in the appropriate thread, please?

    Ken

Don't think so Col. The page I was looking at was
    http://www.rafcommands.com/database/...hp?qnum=108277
which list both Sandersons on the same aircraft but different dates
    Albert Leonard 15/12/1941 Thomas 2/11/1940

If you look closely at this page http://www.rafcommands.com/database/...php?uniq=X3170 The mistake seems to originate because the IBCC page https://internationalbcc.co.uk/losses/120620/ is associating him with 3170.

Going by the dates it shouldnt have been. I will fix our entry - and notify IBCC of the same.

Edit: Fixed the entry to point it out the first post of this thread. TY!

    Thanks Jagan.
IBCC are already aware of the issue.

    Ken,

The simple point I was making is, that 563398 Sgt Thomas SANDERSON RAF, was not aboard 11 OTU Wellington Ic X3170, on 15 December, 1941.

    Col.
