    Default Lancaster VI DV-199

Just wondering when this aircraft was converted to a MK VI. Was built on July 7,1943, went to Rolls Royce on July 16,1943, went to RAF Wyton December 23,1943. back to Rolls Royce Jan 1,1944. Is this when it would of been converted to a MK VI? It was flown by a pilot from 405 Sq at Gransden Lodge on Dec 28,1943, but as a MK III or VI? Hoping someone has an answer.

    Thanks Richard

    Morning Richard,

Harleyford Lancaster says DV199 sent to RR at Hucknall in July 1943 for conversion to B.VI. Retained with DV170 for test work. Streetly 100 Group also has July date and says fitted with 1635hp Merlin 85.

Thanks Peter. He did a 4 hour 20 minute cross country with this aircraft on the 28th December 1943 and a 15 minute circuit and landing on Dec 29th. This makes a third MK VI that was at Gransden Lodge, along with JB-675 and JB-713, but there a very short time.
    Richard
