    Default Sgt/ Air Gunner R W Bence

    Hello , i seeking any information on Sgt /Air Gunner R W Bence .

It seems he went to France with 53 Sqd circa 1939, at Plivot 17/9/39. Benny Bence was shot down on 11th May 1940 on a Photo Recon Sortie Blenheim IV L9459 . And lost a Leg in the ensuing crash other crew members F/O A Panton & Sgt W Christie also injured but it seems they made it back to the UK .

Benny was taken into captivity and was repatriated during Oct 1943 .

If anyone can help with any details on Benny i would be most grateful.

    Thank you Phill Jones

    Phill

A bit more information on the incident and crew here: http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/sho...-Blenheim-1940

There's also a post on PPrune with a bit of info: https://www.pprune.org/9621943-post9908.html

    BENCE Ronald William 619972

Only one Ronald W. Bence on FreeBMD - birth registered Reading, December 1920.

The 1939 Register has a Ronald Bence, b. December 14th 1920, employed as a bus conductor and living in the Rhondda, Glamorganshire but that's Ronald Ivor Bence.

    Regards

    Simon
