    Default 16/11/1939 Blenheim L1148 57 Squadron

    Hi !

The above mentioned Blenheim made a forced-landing in Belgium. The crew (Sgt.A.M.Gilmore, Sgt B.R.Turnbridge and AC1 T.J.Jervis) were interned in Belgium. Have they been able to escape on November 27 (together with the Hurricane pilots of 87 Squadron) ?

    Many thanks and best regards

    Luc

    Hello Luc,

    From the BCL books,
AC1 Terrence .James . Jervis is noted as Killed in Action 9th July 1940 but as a Sgt, service number 551360, still 57 Sqdn.
Also to be confirmed - In Vol 2 Apendix 8 Internees 1939-41.
Sgt. Turnbridge is named as Sgt. Turnidge ?

    Hi Alex,

    Many thanks for your reply.

Coastel Command Losses of the Second World War Volume 1 (1939 - 1941) by Ross McNeill mentions on page 46 That Sgt T.J.Jervis went missing in action aboard Blenheim IV R3847 of 57 Squadron.
The Battle of France Then and Now by Peter D.Cornwell mentions on page 116 the name B.R.Turnbridge. Any idea about his full name ?
Is the name Alfred William Gilmore correct ?

    Best regards

    Luc
