Default Is this person the most "Mentioned in Despatches" ever?

One of the benefits of putting data in a database is it allows me to run queries in the background. In the current state of the DB which is missing the OBE/MBE/MBE Series and maybe 25% of the MiDs , i ran a query to see who had the most number of awards - regardless of the importance or precedence.. one thing that stood out was

Wow, Col.. just shows how much data needs to be fixed for these names have not come up in my queries.. has those names but was always missing one or two from their final totals! thanks for pointing them out!

At some point these officers must have got tired of being Mentioned so many times!

EDIT: while most of the names exist in partial entries in the M-i-D database for some reason 75549 A/F/L A. A. D. SEVASTOPULO did not feature even once!

I love this thread! So interesting. So did Pearson, Baines, Crouchley, McElroy, Sevastopulo, and Wells not receive even a DFM, or a DFC for those who were officers? That sounds jaw-droppingly bizarre to me, but the gong game was a funny one - political and sometimes commanders had their recommendations quashed in the process of recommending a man for a gong.

I'll let someone answer this, instead of taking the time to snoop myself. Blame my lazybones on COVID-19. (That's the first time I've tried to use is as an excuse-- wrongly, in this case).

    Matt,

As the query specifically related to MiD's, I restricted my reply to that subject.

Sevastopulo was awarded an OBE(M) (LG: 01.01.1944), and a Greek Air Force Cross (LG: 29.12.1942). Wells was also awarded an OBE(M), (LG: 02.06.1943) and a US Bronze Star (LG: 16.04.1946). All the airmen I mentioned were A&SD.

Period covered by me, 1939-1946. There could be other honours/awards.

Group Captain Baines made a C.B.E. on the 1st June 1953. He also appears on the list of The Few having a Battle of Britain Bar.
