    Default Russian P-40 AK295 shot down 1 Feb 1942

    Hi guys

The first Lease-Lend P-40 (AK295) to be lost on operations in the Far North theatre of Russia, was shot down on 1 February 1942. The pilot of 147-IAP survived. But who shot it down? I have no Luftwaffe victory recorded.Friendly fire??

    Cheers

I was tracking this as possibly a claim by JG54 aircraft, no idea how true, just my record for this aircraft when lost over Zimnaja Motovka, in the Murmansk Region. I also replied on the other site to the question

    Hi Buz and others

I've since been informed that AK295 was not shot but carried out an emergency crash-landing during an operational sortie, in which the pilot was badly injured.

    Cheers

    Keep safe
