    Hello again

Aircraftman 1st Class William Alexander MUIRHEAD (1369908) - his death was reported in the Leven Mail from Fife on February 17th 1943:

    Death of Local Aircraftsman [sic]
The sad news has reached the village that A.C. William Muirhead, R.A.F., whose parents reside at South Row, has been killed in a flying accident in the Bahama Islands. The sympathy of the village is extended to Mr and Mrs Muirhead in their sad bereavement.

First Officer John Marquis SMITHER - finally tracked him down. The Courier-Journal from Louisville, Kentucky of August 10th 1943 reported the following:

Smither of Alhambra, Calif.; Pilot - Trainee Leland Cooper Lloyd of San Antonio, Texas, and Sergt. George S. Newman, R.C.A.F. wireless operator of Victoria, British Columbia.

The database on here has George Stanley Burt NEWMAN (R/138461) as being lost in Hudson VI EW898 of 45 Group.

    Flying Officer
    THOMAS, JOHN EWART
    Service Number 107956

    Died 24/05/1943

England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1995 for John Ewart Thomas
of 17 St. Peters-road Newton Swansea
Says died on or Since 21 May 1943 on war service

So no nearer cause of death, but a bit more info on him

I noticed date of death different so looked up 21 May 1943 on Ottawa Memorial and found this

Mitchell II FR365/CD - took off at 1745 captained by Fg Off J E Thomas

So 7 on board not six..

Flying Officer Alfred David JOHNSON (117471) RAF 1943-02-01 269 Sqdn AIR27 United Kingdom Runnymede Memorial

Date of death is different - According to England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1995 for Alfred David Johnson
it is "1st March 1943" on war Service - Though the ORB for 269 Sqdn does not provide info on either date

But if you then cross ref new date with 269 sqn you get Hudson IIa Hudson “M” s/n FH363 or Hudson “O” s/n FH423

    I assume FH423 (see below)

-- Not in ORB because detachment

I wonder if he was on this crew

    https://stridsminjar.is/en/a-list-of...d-march-1-1943

    FH363 = 4 Crew

    From this thread here:

    http://www.rafcommands.com/archive/08788.php

Henk had resolved the Hadow and Summers cases already.

"Wing Commander Patrick Edward HADOW (36026) and Leading Aircraftman Charles William SUMMERS (1403275) were flying on Dakota FD903 of 512 Squadron RAF, which departed from RAF Lyneham, Wiltshire at 22.30hrs on 25-12-1943 on a transit flight to Gibraltar."

Hadow had left 220 Squadron at RAF Lagens in the Azores at 2300 on 18 Dec 43 "by air for interview with HQCC reference Crew Policy" (220 Sqn ORB). He is noted as 'reported missing' in the ORB on 26 Dec 43, presumably on the return flight.

Are there any links/accounts one can find to HMT P-41. First page of Google results bring up zilch. Though there is a Motor Launch sunk off Algeria on 1943-03-23

Thanks for the info on Thomas being on Mitchell FR365 Paul, and thanks for sending it to the NEWMP. Janet has just e-mailed me with your addition - it's a small world!

I'm sure Janet will make the change when she gets a moment.
