    Martyn,
    From Chorley's OTU Losses.
30 OTU Wellington DF641, t/o Hixon in company of eight a/c for Bullseye detail. Last heard from at 30mins after departure. At 00.35 with the bomber 4 miles from it's briefed track, the dinghy broke from it's housing and structural failure followed, debris falling about 5miles SW of Ingham, Lincs. All crew in your list on board.

A wee ammendment to the location:

    http://www.rafinfo.org.uk/BCWW2Losses/OTU.htm

OTU/295 30/DF641 Delete: "about 5 miles SW of Ingham" and replace with "near Thorpe in the Fallows, 6 miles NW of Lincoln".

Thank you Alan and Dennis for your prompt reply.
I note that I wrongly attributed Welton to Northamptonshire when it is Lincolnshire.

    Many thanks

    Default Squadron number?

    Hello,
I'm trying to gather information about my great-uncle George Willston Mitchell who also died in this crash.I'm looking for his squadron number and any other info, including pictures of him and his crew. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,
    Rick

    Rick,

The aircraft was from 30 OTU (Operational Training Unit), which means that the crew had not yet been posted to a squadron.

My uncle Joseph Raymond Pollon R/250815 is showing as a member of this crew, is there any place we can search for more information? I am new to this forum and would like to know more about his short career in the RCAF.

    Welcome to the board,

you need to contact the Canadian National Archives, details are here:
    http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/0...909.007-e.html

That will give you his service history and it may contain details of the crash and the aftermath.

    Hi Martyn,
The Nav, Jack Rutter came from 103 and 576 with the CC Rollins Crew and had completed his tour. I am surmising he was an instructor on board, or filling in for the crew's nav. Hope that helps someone!
