I know I have seen an allocation of service numbers for Auxiliary Air Force Sqns Pre war for airman

So 800 would be x SqN
    801 y Sqn etc

But canít find it now any idea if the Sqn for

So which AAF Sqns would this guy have served with?

Charles Kethel McKenzie AAF 800211 (and also #803179):

I think 800xxx would be 600 Sqn which would make sense as he lived near RAf Northolt

    615 Squadron 90397-90408
616 Squadron (This unit inherited 503 Squadron's block when the latter was disbanded on 1 November 1938)
613 Squadron did not form until 1 March 1939, and appears not to have been allocated a block of numbers

    Airmen Service Numbers

The 800000 series for the Auxiliary Air Force began with great simplicity,
with the second and third numbers being the same as the second and third numerals of the
    squadron number thus:

    800000-800999 600 Squadron
    801000-801999 601 Squadron
    802000-802999 602 Squadron
    803000-803999 603 Squadron
    804000-804999 604 Squadron
    805000-805999 605 Squadron
    807000-807999 607 Squadron
    808000-808999 608 Squadron
    809000-809999 609 Squadron
    810000-810999 610 Squadron
    811000-811999 611 Squadron

This sequence was disrupted in May 1936 when the Special Reserve Squadrons were transferred
to the AuxAF, with the following numbers allocated:

    812000-812999 500 Squadron
    813808-813999 501 Squadron
    814000-814999 502 Squadron
    815000-815999 504 Squadron

Auxiliary squadrons formed after May 1936 therefore received the following

    816000-816999 612 Squadron
    817000-817999 613 Squadron
    818000-818999 614 Squadron
    819000-819999 615 Squadron
    820000-820999 616 Squadron

    Paul,
VMT that Service Numbers list for the AAF Sqns – very much appreciated.
I note, though, that the highest number is 820999 issued to 616 Sqn. In my list of Numbers the next one I have is Block 880000-897999 issued to WAAFs wef 1 Mar 1939.
So, does anybody know what happened to the Numbers 821000 to 879999?
    TIA
    Peter Davies
